CipherPlus: Protection of Corporate and Personal Information

While many EDMS systems provide security measures to protect the actual documents or scanned images from unauthorized access, and may even encrypt those documents, an often ignored issue is the security of the metadata or indexing information.

Virtually every EDMS solution today store their metadata "in the clear"; meaning that if anyone gains access to the database table, then they would be able to read what could be highly confidential or private information such as Social Security Numbers, Credit Card information, Personal data such as health / financial information, and others.

CipherPlus is an add-on option that works with Saperion (& other EDMS solutions). It will automatically encrypt sensitive information making it useless to anyone who may gain unauthorized access to the database.

Users can still search and retrieve documents but only authorized users are able to decode protected fields. This reduces risk of compromising confidential information in corporate databases, and helps with privacy and regulatory compliance acts such as HIPAA, PIPEDA, Sarbanes-Oxley, and others.
